Mikki Bedard serves as an Emeritus Board Member for Children's Home Society and has been a part of that organization since 2001. As a professional, she has a long history of sales and marketing experience, last as the Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Zomax. Mikki believes that Mind Shift's model of creating self-sustaining business from the meaningful work of people on the autism spectrum is the "next wave" in creating a better world of work.
Since 2014, Tim has served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Anne Carlsen Center. He is Board President of the North Dakota Association of Nonprofit Organizations (NDANO), and has 30+ years of nonprofit social service experience. Tim, like MindShift, shares a passion for unlocking and maximizing the special talents of individuals on the Autistic Spectrum, to give businesses true competitive advantages.
Tim Hanson, Board Chair
Tim started Specialisterne Midwest, now Mind Shift, in 2010 with the goal of tapping into the unique talents of people with ASD, like his son Joe. With the help of world-class board members and advocates, MindShift.works is achieving this goal for many talented young people with ASD. Tim is founder and CEO of Sherwood Forest, Inc., and lives with his wife Stephanie and four children in Hanover, MN.
Steve Kowalke, Board Treasurer
Steve has been working in finance and management consulting since 1980. As Vice President and Treasurer at Target Corporation, he had responsibility for the Financing, Banking, Investments, Risk Management and Tax divisions. After 25 years with Target, Steve formed 7 Peaks Consulting, which assists non-profit and for-profit companies in financial management, organizational design, leadership development as well as mergers and acquisitions. In addition to the position of Treasurer and Board Member of Mind Shift, Steve also serves on the boards of SonScape Retreats, and The Blessing House.
Todd Lindberg, Board Secretary
Todd serves on Mind Shift’s board of directors and is the Board Secretary. He has been involved with efforts to bring Mind Shift (previously Specialisterne) to the United States since the beginning. Separately, Todd is the President of Sherwood Forest, Inc., a firm that helps companies save money.
Eric Monson is the CEO of the Anne Carlsen Center that supports individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and people on the autism spectrum across the state of North Dakota. Eric’s career has encompassed deep experience with healthcare, biotechnology and innovation. In addition to executive responsibilities with companies, Eric has held and holds board positions with multiple non-profit operating entities, foundations and investor owned organizations.
Josh is a former venture capitalist turned serial entrepreneur. Spending four years in VC he moved on to found Crossfox Innovation, a holdings company focused on growing startups. Crossfox has worked with companies across six countries and throughout the United States. Most recently, he became President and Chief Visionary of Protosthetics, a company focused on bringing affordable prosthetics and orthotics to market utilizing 3D printing technology. He has a passion for helping people with autism that started with his work with software companies and the need for specialized, high quality labor. Josh serves as Chairman of the MindShift Business Development Committee. In his free time, Josh enjoys the outdoors through fishing, hunting, downhill skiing and horseback riding.
Tony Thomann, Executive Director
Tony Thomann is the first Executive Director for Mind Shift. He has over a decade of experience in workforce development and in working with business and community leaders to include disconnected workers in the labor market. Tony has two sons on the autism spectrum, so has a deep personal connection to changing the world for people with ASD.
